Plugin Operation, Signal Flow & Features

Usage:

  • The plugin is designed to be used as a real fuzz pedal. For authentic performance, place Old Vintage Fuzz before your amp simulation (or real amp input) in your signal chain—just as you would position a physical pedal ahead of an amplifier.
  • Rolling down your guitar’s volume cleans up the signal naturally, exactly as a real fuzz pedal responds to lower input levels.

Main Control:

Fuzz Knob: The primary control adjusts the overall fuzz intensity—from subtle grit to full-blown, vintage distortion.

Secret Features:

Access these controls via your DAW’s parameter list to fine-tune your tone beyond the fuzz amount:

  • Tone:
    • Function: Shapes the high-frequency content of your signal.
    • Effect: At 0, the tone is dark and mellow; as you turn it up, the signal brightens significantly—ideal for dialing in that perfect “pickup” character.
  • Bass:
    • Function: Infuses extra low-end thickness.
    • Effect: Enhances low frequencies for a richer, heavier bottom end.
  • Gate:
    • Function: Sets a threshold level that mutes signals below a certain amplitude.
    • Effect: Produces a gated effect that gives you that sputtery fuzz.
  • Bias:
    • Function: Adjusts the transistor’s internal voltage bias.
    • Effect: Modifies the distortion texture, shifting the tonal character from aggressive and edgy to smoother and more sustained.
  • Glassy Cleans (On/Off):
    • Function: Activates an equalization filter designed to clarify and brighten the overall signal.
    • Effect: When enabled, it “cleans up” the fuzz effect, yielding a more pristine and articulate tone.

BPM Controls:

  • BPM Mode: Lets you manually set the BPM value for precise, custom synchronization of the animated GIF to the tempo of your choosing.
  • BPM Auto Mode: Automatically syncs the animated GIF to your DAW’s tempo.

  • Activation Process: Open the plugin’s overlay window. (If you have already dismissed the overlay window in your current session, you can either open another instance or close your DAW and then reopen it.) Enter the received activation code. Click “Activate” to immediately enable full functionality—the overlay will then disappear permanently.
  • Note: If the trial expires and no valid activation code is entered, the plugin (and its audio) will remain disabled.
